Pluralisme dan multikulturalisme sebagai fondasi persatuan di Indonesia
Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a high level of diversity in ethnicity, religion, culture, language, and traditions. This diversity makes pluralism and multiculturalism important elements in maintaining national unity. This study aims to analyze the role of pluralism and multiculturalism as the foundation of unity in Indonesia and to examine the challenges faced in a multicultural society. The method used in this study is a literature review by collecting data from journals, books, scientific articles, and other official sources related to pluralism, multiculturalism, and social conditions in Indonesia. The results show that mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance of differences play an important role in creating a harmonious society. In addition, the values of Pancasila and the national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika become the main foundation for strengthening unity amid diversity. However, the development of social media, the rise of intolerance, and conflicts based on ethnicity, religion, race, and social groups are still major challenges in maintaining social harmony. Therefore, strengthening multicultural education, religious moderation, and public awareness is necessary to preserve unity and respect differences. In conclusion, pluralism and multiculturalism can become strong foundations for creating unity and social stability in Indonesia.
