Abstract

This study discusses the synergy between zakat and waqf in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. The background of this research is based on the persistent issues of poverty and social inequality in Indonesia, which require sustainable development instruments. Zakat and waqf, as Islamic social finance instruments, have significant potential to support social welfare and achieve several SDGs targets, such as poverty alleviation, quality education, good health and well-being, and reduced inequalities. This study aims to analyze the role, relevance, and challenges of zakat and waqf management in supporting sustainable development in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach by collecting data from journals, books, scientific articles, and official reports. The results indicate that zakat and waqf can significantly contribute to social and economic development when managed professionally, productively, and through digital innovation. Therefore, optimizing the synergy between zakat and waqf can become an important strategy to support the achievement of SDGs in Indonesia.
