The development of information technology in the era of globalization has brought significant changes to library services, particularly in the use of open-access digital systems. Institutional repositories have become one of the key tools for managing, preserving, and disseminating scholarly works openly to the general public. This study aims to examine the role of institutional repositories and the importance of information literacy in supporting open access to academic knowledge. The method used is a literature review, examining various scientific journals, research articles, and relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that institutional repositories not only serve as a repository for scientific documents but also anhance research visibility, expand academic collaboration networks, and foster a culture of sustainable knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the information literacy skills of librarians and users are critical factors in optimizing the use of digital repositories. The integration of information technology, support for open access policies, and the role of librarians as knowledge managers are key elements in the developments of modern libraries that are adaptable to global changes.
