Raising awareness about gender equality
Abstract
The issue of gender equality remains highly relevant across various layers of society, including in education, law, and socioeconomic life. This article aims to build awareness of the importance of gender equality through a multidimensional approach—examining Islamic perspectives based on hadith, human rights frameworks, and the social realities experienced by women in various sectors. A literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach was applied to six relevant academic journal sources. The findings indicate that gender equality is not merely a modern demand but a value inherently embedded in Islamic teachings and universal human rights principles. Awareness of gender equality must be systematically built through education, contextual religious text interpretation, and gender-responsive policies. Cultural barriers, social stereotypes, and gaps in religious interpretation remain real challenges that must be addressed collectively.
