Ruang aman yang semu: Analisis dampak aplikasi anonymous chat terhadap pengguna

The development of digital communication technology has given rise to a new phenomenon in the form of anonymous chat applications that allow users to interact without revealing their real identities. This article analyzes the impact of using anonymous chat applications, particularly the Anonymous Chat Bot feature on Telegram, on user behavior and well-being. By combining findings from various qualitative and quantitative studies, this article explains both the positive and negative dimensions of digital anonymity, including aspects of hyperpersonal communication, the potential for virtual sexual harassment, cyberbullying, and the psychological and social impacts caused by such interactions. On one hand, anonymity can provide a sense of comfort for individuals to express opinions, share personal experiences, and build relationships without fear of being judged. On the other hand, the absence of clear identities also creates opportunities for misuse, such as the spread of hate speech, emotional manipulation, fraud, and other deviant behaviors. Excessive use of these applications may also affect users’ mental health by increasing anxiety, social dependency, and reducing the quality of real-life interactions. The conclusion shows that anonymous spaces, often perceived as “safe spaces,” actually contain serious risks that require greater digital awareness from users, platforms, and policymakers.
