Implementasi strategi pembelajaran komunikatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa inggris mahasiswa

Abstract

English language learning plays a crucial role in improving the quality of human resources, particularly in the face of globalization in education, technology, communication, and the workplace. However, many students still struggle to use English as a means of communication due to poor speaking skills, limited vocabulary, and lack of self-confidence. This article aims to discuss the implementation of communicative learning strategies orCommunicative Language Teaching(CLT) in improving students' English language skills. The method used in this article is a literature study by reviewing various scientific journals related to communicative learning strategies in English learning. The results of the discussion indicate that communicative learning strategies are effective in improving students' speaking skills through discussion activities, presentations, androle play, And conversation practice. In addition to improving English language skills, the communicative approach can also increase students' learning motivation, self-confidence, critical thinking skills, and academic communication. The successful implementation of this strategy is influenced by supporting factors such as learning motivation, interactive learning media, and a conducive learning environment. However, several obstacles to its implementation exist, such as low student self-confidence and a lack of habit of using English in everyday life. Therefore, collaboration between lecturers, students, and educational institutions is needed to create an active, interactive, and communicative English learning process.
