Literacy and reading interest are fundamental skills essential for supporting the learning success of elementary school students. However, low reading interest in Indonesia remains a challenge in education. This study aims to identify various efforts teachers can make to improve literacy and reading interest in elementary school students. This study used a literature review method from various written sources, such as journals, books, and relevant research results. The results of the study indicate that literacy is not only related to reading and writing skills, but also the ability to understand information, think critically, solve problems, and communicate well. Efforts that can be made to improve students' literacy and reading interest include making reading a habit, using engaging learning media, implementing literacy learning strategies, providing motivation to students, and involving parents and the school environment. In its implementation, several obstacles exist, such as a lack of reading facilities, limited book collections, low student motivation, and the influence of excessive gadget use. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents is essential for optimal development of students' literacy culture and reading interest from an early age.
