Optimizing productive zakat is a crucial strategy in the Islamic economic system to improve the welfare of mustahik through strengthening the capacity of micro-enterprises, this is in line with the growth of Malang City as a city of education, tourism, and culinary delights full of business opportunities. This research was conducted to examine the implementation of productive zakat optimization in efforts to empower the economy of mustahik in LAZISMU Lowokwaru District, primarily through the MSME empowerment program and BankZiska. Data were collected using a qualitative descriptive approach through direct field observations and in-depth interviews with LAZISMU Lowokwaru District. This study found that the MSME empowerment program distributed capital support in the form of cash funds and productive business equipment, while BankZiska offered interest-free financing facilities based on the principle of qardh al-hasan as a concrete manifestation of the liberation of mustahik from dependence on usury practices in order to achieve strong and sustainable economic independence.
