Abstract

Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a tropical fruit plant that is widely used because of its important role as a food source and its economic value. The fruit and seeds of papaya have unique morphological characteristics that are important to understand for plant identification, classification, and agricultural learning. This writing aims to describe the morphology of papaya fruit and seeds in a clear and simple way. The discussion focuses on the visible characteristics of the outer and inner parts of the fruit as well as the shape and structure of the seeds. The results show that papaya is a fleshy fruit with different shapes, ranging from round to elongated, depending on the variety and flower type. The fruit has a smooth outer surface, yellow to orange flesh when ripe, and a central cavity filled with many seeds. Papaya seeds are small, oval-shaped, dark in color when fully mature, and covered by a thin slippery layer. These features become the main characteristics that make papaya easy to recognize. Understanding the morphology of papaya fruit and seeds can provide useful basic information for plant recognition, learning activities, and further studies related to papaya plants.
