Kajian literasi penerapan pembangkit listrik tenaga surya (PLTS) untuk mendukung kemandirian energi di pesantren

The dependence of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) on conventional electricity from PLN poses sustainability challenges, especially in remote and rural areas. This literature review aims to examine the implementation of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) as a strategic solution to support energy independence in pesantren environments. Using a systematic literature review method, this study analyses the technical, economic, and socio-religious potential of PLTS implementation in pesantren. The results indicate that PLTS both off-grid and on-grid systems has high feasibility in pesantren given that Indonesia receives an average solar radiation of 4.5–5.5 kWh/m²/day. PLTS implementation not only reduces operational energy costs but also supports Islamic values regarding environmental stewardship (hifz al-bi'ah). Pesantren have the potential to become renewable energy education centers that empower students and surrounding communities toward value based energi independence.
