Academic procrastination is the behavior of delaying academic tasks that frequently occurs among university students and may affect learning quality. This article aims to analyze the causes and impacts of academic procrastination on students. The method used is a literature review by examining various relevant journals and scientific sources. The results show that academic procrastination is influenced by excessive social media use, low learning motivation, and poor time management skills. This behavior negatively affects learning productivity, increases stress, and lowers students’ self-discipline. Therefore, good time management, learning motivation, and self-discipline are needed to reduce academic procrastination and improve learning quality optimally. Thus, managing academic procrastination depends not only on a student's ability to complete assignments on time but also on the awareness to cultivate organized and responsible study habits. Students need to be able to set priorities, limit excessive social media use, and enhance their motivation and discipline in fulfilling academic obligations. These efforts are expected to reduce the habit of procrastination, minimize academic pressure, and foster a more effective learning process. Through consistent self-management, students can establish productive study patterns that support optimal academic achievement.
