Citizenship is a fundamental concept in national and state life that encompasses legal status, rights, obligations, as well as socio-cultural relationships between citizens and the state. Understanding citizenship is essential in shaping a society capable of carrying out its roles and responsibilities effectively in order to achieve a just and civilized life. The study of citizenship is based on three main foundations: historical, juridical, and sociological foundations. The historical foundation explains the development of the concept of citizenship over time, enabling society to understand changes in citizens’ rights and obligations. The juridical foundation emphasizes the legal basis and legislation that provide legal certainty regarding citizenship status. Meanwhile, the sociological foundation highlights the relationship between citizens and the dynamic socio-cultural environment. These three foundations are interconnected in forming a strong and fair citizenship system that aligns with societal development. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of citizenship is crucial in social, national, and state life.
