Konsep Tazkiyatun Nafs sebagai solusi dekadensi moral masyarakat modern

Modern society today faces significant challenges in the form of moral decline and spiritual crisis related to the impact of globalization, secularism, and digital transformation. This phenomenon is evident in the rise of hedonistic culture, diminished social emphaty, and increasing mental health problems, indicating a spiritual emptiness that cannot be filled by material achievements alone. This study aims to examine the reconstruction and relevance of the concept of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) as an alternative solution to overcome this moral decline. Using qualititave methods that prioritize literature studies, this article analyses the thoughts of classical sufi figures and relates them to current social conditions. The results show that tazkiyatun nafs provides a structured Islamic psychotherapy approach through three important steps: takhalli (cleansing the soul from heart diseases such as riya, love of the world, and egoism), tahalli (developing character with noble morals and moral integrity), and tajalli (feeling the presence of god that brings peace in the heart). This study concludes that the continuous application of tazkiyatun nafs, both in educational environments and in daily activities, can be a powerful moral guideline and spiritual fortress for modern society in facing existential crises.
