Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed many aspects of modern society. Activities such as learning, working, communicating, and accessing information are now increasingly carried out through digital platforms. This situation requires individuals not only to possess the ability to operate digital tools, but also to understand how to search for information, evaluate its credibility, and use it responsibly and appropriately. This article aims to examine the importance of digital literacy as a key competency needed in the twenty-first century, as well as its relevance in the field of education. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing various relevant academic sources, including books, journal articles, and official documents related to digital literacy. The findings indicate that digital literacy plays an essential role in enhancing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. In addition, it also helps individuals deal with various challenges in the digital environment, such as misinformation and cybersecurity threats. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy must be carried out continuously through education and the involvement of multiple stakeholders in order to build a society that is capable of adapting to ongoing technological developments.
