Energy valuation is the process of assessing the economic, strategic, and geopolitical value of a country's energy resources. Indonesia, as a nation rich in natural resources, faces significant challenges in managing its energy assets amid the ever-evolving dynamics of global geopolitics. This study aims to analyze how energy valuation impacts Indonesia's national security threats, encompassing economic, military, and socio-political dimensions. The method employed is descriptive qualitative with a literature review approach and analysis of national and international energy policy documents. The findings indicate that imbalances in energy valuation, whether overvaluation or undervaluation, have the potential to trigger energy dependency, conflicts of interest between nations, and destabilization of the national defense and economic sectors. Furthermore, the global energy transition toward renewable energy also affects Indonesia's bargaining position in the international energy geopolitical arena. This study concludes that a comprehensive, transparent, and nationally-oriented energy valuation policy is necessary to mitigate arising security threats. Recommendations include strengthening national energy regulations, diversifying energy sources, and enhancing Indonesia's energy diplomacy capacity in international forums.
