Abstract

In this article, the goal is to look at both the prospects and the barriers that arise when the deep learning approach is incorporated into the Indonesian national curriculum. To answer the global challenges of the 21st century, the current educational paradigm is starting to change from oral learning (surface learning) to deep learning (deep learning). Various literature, policy documents, and learning outcome reports were reviewed in this study using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study show that deep learning has a great opportunity to improve the quality of education through the principles of meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning, which is in line with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum. However, there are major challenges, including teachers who lack sufficient reflective and literacy skills, a lack of digital infrastructure, and barriers to traditional learning cultures. The study concludes that successful implementation of deep learning requires a holistic strategy that includes continuous teacher training, literacy strengthening, and policy support that is adaptive to local conditions.
