Abstract

In this global era, many consider morality merely a norm embodied in the values of a particular societal order. This means there is no standard that can be used as a reference for a moral system that is generally accepted by society. Consequently, very few moral attitudes of a particular society will be accepted by others. Some believe that religion should be aterile from culture, while others argue that the two can correlate but must still maintain the purity of religion itself. Islam stands as a religion that upholds morality. The quran, as the primary source of islamic teachings, emphasizes the importance of holistic education, which focuses not only on intellectual aspects but also encompasses moral and spiritual development. The background of this research is based on concerns about the moral crisis and the disintegration of spiritual values in modern educational practices that tend to emphasize solely cognitive aspects. Therefore, this research aims to examine the role of religion as a capital in shaping national morality. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this paper will answer this question by attempting to trace Islam's position in moral development and how religious education should be implemented to address the nation's moral problems.
