Urgensi “Mondok” dalam Kehidupan remaja muslim

Gen Z has grown up in a highly digital environment that provides unlimited access to information while simultaneously exposing young Muslims to challenges related to identity, moral values, and psychological well-being. These circumstances highlight the importance of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) education in developing strong character. This study aimed to examine the significance of having pesantren experience for Muslim Generation Z from religious, intellectual, social, and moral perspectives. This study employed a qualitative library research approach by reviewing open-access journal articles, books, and institutional repository documents retrieved from Google Scholar and Islamic university repositories. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques through data reduction, thematic synthesis, and critical interpretation. The findings indicated that pesantren experience strengthens Islamic manners (adab), discipline, religious literacy, independence, leadership, religious moderation, psychological resilience, and critical digital literacy. These values help Generation Z balance intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and social competencies needed in contemporary society. Experiencing pesantren education represents a strategic character investment for Muslim Generation Z, enabling them to become knowledgeable, ethical, resilient, and socially responsible individuals capable of responding constructively to the challenges of the digital era.
