Abstract

This study examines the implementation of ESG-based risk management in enhancing the resilience of Islamic banking in Indonesia. The research highlights how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles align with maqashid sharia and serve as a modern approach to managing both financial and non-financial risks. By analyzing existing literature and practices, this study finds that ESG integration helps mitigate environmental risks, strengthen social responsibility, and improve governance transparency within Islamic banks. Furthermore, the adoption of ESG contributes to increased financial stability, public trust, and long-term sustainability. However, challenges such as limited regulatory support and low ESG literacy remain significant barriers. Therefore, strengthening ESG frameworks and aligning them with Islamic principles are essential to improve the resilience and competitiveness of Islamic banking institutions in Indonesia.
