Peran pesantren dalam penguatan pendidikan akhlak pada era digitalisasi

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are Islamic educational institutions that play a significant role in character formation and the strengthening of moral education among the younger generation. In the era of digitalization, the development of information and communication technology brings both positive and negative impacts on people's behavior, particularly among adolescents. Easy access to the internet and social media not only supports learning but also has the potential to give rise to moral issues, such as declining communication ethics, individualism, and low self-control. This condition requires pesantren to adapt to technology without abandoning the fundamental values of Islamic education. This study aims to examine the role of pesantren in strengthening moral education, the challenges faced in the digital era, and the strategies employed to address modern technology. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with a literature review approach, through the analysis of various relevant journals and scientific literature. The findings show that pesantren play a strategic role in shaping the character of santri (students) through habituation, exemplary role modeling, and Islamic value-based education. In addition, pesantren face challenges such as the influence of foreign culture, excessive social media use, and low digital literacy. To address these challenges, pesantren implement strategies including strengthening Islamic-based digital literacy, utilizing technology as a medium for learning and da'wah (Islamic preaching), and adopting a humanistic approach. Thus, pesantren are expected to produce a generation that is intellectually intelligent, morally strong, and spiritually mature in this digital era.
