Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) are among Indonesia's oldest Islamic educational institutions, traditionally recognized for their roles in education, religious outreach, and community empowerment, while pharmacy has developed as a health discipline focused on drug development, regulatory oversight, and pharmaceutical care. These two fields are seldom discussed together, even though they hold considerable conceptual common ground, particularly around health self-reliance, the use of medicinal plants, and rational medication literacy among santri. Drawing on conceptual analysis and a literature review of regulations, community-service reports, and earlier studies, this article formulates a framework for synergy between pesantren and pharmacy as a contribution toward Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045. The analysis indicates that pesantren carry social capital well-suited to becoming a community pharmaceutical education base, while pharmacy can help ensure that both traditional and modern treatment practiced within pesantren remain safe and effective. The article concludes that structured collaboration among pesantren, pharmacy institutions, and policymakers is essential for building a pesantren-based health ecosystem capable of supporting a healthy, self-reliant workforce ahead of 2045.
