Traditional dance represents a vital aspect of Indonesia's cultural legacy, encompassing values related to history, education, society, spirituality, aesthetics, and identity that have been handed down over the years. It functions not merely for enjoyment but also as a channel for expressing cultural values and the identity of the communities that uphold it. This article seeks to explore the presence of Indonesian traditional dance in the context of globalization, its impact on the evolution of dance culture, and how the younger generation contributes to its preservation. The approach taken involves library research, analyzing various pertinent scholarly sources concerning traditional dance, globalization, and cultural preservation. Findings from the research reveal that globalization exerts both beneficial and detrimental effects on traditional dance. On the positive side, there is an increased exposure and promotion of traditional dance through digital platforms, cultural events, and global collaborations. Conversely, a negative consequence is witnessed in the waning interest of some young individuals in traditional dance, influenced by global pop culture. Despite the numerous obstacles, traditional dance continues to thrive through various preservation initiatives, including cultural education, innovative performances, digital adaptation, and governmental backing. The younger generation holds a crucial position as both carriers and protectors of culture by engaging in artistic endeavors, utilizing digital technologies, and fostering creativity that ensures traditional dance remains pertinent to modern trends.
