Abstract

Hermenitics has long been used by modernising Muslims as a method of interpreting the Qur'an in the contemporary era. Many figures have enlivened Hermeunitics, for example, Hasan Hanafi, Muhammad Syahrur, Fazlur Rahman, Abdullah Saeed, Muhammad Arkoun, Farid Esack, Amina Wadud, and Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd. In addition, there are many thoughts from Hermeunitics experts that cause controversy, such as Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd who states that "the Qur'an is a cultural product". This Hermeunitics method also has a lot of pros and cons from conventional scholars and modern scholars. Those who contradict each other also have a strong argumentative basis, such as those who support the reason that this method is very suitable for use because it can adjust the development of the times, and from those who reject them argue that they should not equate the Qur'an with the bible, because the origin of the Hermeunitika method was first used as a method of interpreting the Bible. This research uses an analytical description research method with a qualitative approach through literature study research. With the aim of knowing about Hermeunitika and its criticism from Indonesian scholars.
