Abstract
Speech is well-known in the community. Every speech act carried out by the community has certain meanings or implications, both implicit and explicit. The existence of importance in a speech functions as a binder of communication between communities. The purposes of this study are (1) to show the form of implicature and (2) to describe the implicature in the speaker's argument one con in the final debate of the FJA UIN Malang 2021. This type of research is qualitative descriptive because the data analyzed is in the form of words or sentences corresponding to the study. The data source used is primary data from the YouTube channel for the final of the 2021 FJA UIN Malang debate, supported by secondary data in the form of books and journal articles that support research. Data collection techniques are in the form of watching strategies and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles Huberman analysis model: data reduction, data processing, and concluding. The results of this study consist of (1) general and specific implicatures in the speaker's argument against the FJA UIN Malang's final debate based on Gerald Gazdar's perspective. (2) There are three general implicatures in the form of questions that function as affirmations and two general implicatures in the form of statements that function as denial. In the special implicature, there are two forms of statements, 1 form of questions, and two forms of command implicatures with functions of affirmation, explanation, and prohibition.
