Libraries are the most widely known and visited information institutions by the public. As an information institution, libraries have an obligation to provide services to the community by fulfilling their information needs. Fulfilling information needs is not enough with just books; other library materials, such as journals and programs, can increase knowledge or fulfill the information needs of users. These obligations or duties are carried out by all types of libraries, such as academic libraries, special libraries, and public libraries. The management of library materials and programs in the library is certainly managed and held by the librarians. If management is properly implemented by the librarians, it can support the scholarly communication process in the library. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of libraries and librarians in supporting scholarly communication in public libraries. This research is qualitative and uses a library research method to answer these problems. Based on the results of the literature review, there are several roles possessed by a librarian and a public library in supporting scientific communication (scholarly communication). The roles are very supportive of scientific communication, so that scientific dialogue occurs between writers and readers (scholarly communication).
