Tinjauan kritis terhadap pembuahan in vitro (IVF) dalam Islam
Abstract
This research provides a critical review of the practice of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) from an Islamic perspective using qualitative methods. IVF is an assisted reproductive technology that helps infertile couples have children, but it raises ethical and legal issues in Islam. This study examines related literature, including religious texts, ulama fatwas, and academic research, and uses in-depth interviews with religious experts and document analysis. The research results show that in Islam, IVF is acceptable on condition that it uses sperm and egg cells from a legitimate married couple and prohibits the use of sperm donors, egg donors or surrogate mothers. There are different interpretations among scholars regarding the practical application of IVF; some scholars allow it with strict conditions, while others are more restrictive. This study emphasizes the importance of consulting religious experts and medical providers in decision making regarding IVF. This research provides insight into the acceptability of modern reproductive technologies such as IVF within the framework of Islamic law and ethics, and highlights the importance of a cautious approach in their implementation. It is hoped that this research will become a reference for Muslim couples, health professionals and clerics who are considering and assisting the use of IVF.
