Kesenian dan kearifan lokal barongsai
Menjadikan toleransi yang kuat antar beragama
Abstract
This article discusses the role of Barongsai art in the context of Chinese cultural diversity, including its integration with aspects of Chinese society, including religion. The two-way translation strategy (yin and yang) is the focus in interpreting the Barongsai tradition, which allows the meeting of various strategies in this tradition. The Barongsai tradition is understood as a medium for cultural rituals that strengthen Chinese and Islamic identity, as well as strengthening social interaction. The history and development of the Lion Dance in Indonesia is also explained, showing it as a symbol of good luck and a tool for strengthening social ties within a wider community. The principles of tolerance in the Lion Dance community, such as diversity, respect for other cultures, and the integration of rituals with the theme of the event, are detailed as examples of social solidarity in the teachings of Emile Durkheim. The Lion Dance art also finds space in various religious events, showing acceptance and a symbol of unity between religious communities. Even though challenges such as cultural and religious conflicts exist, the Barongsai community finds solutions with multicultural education and strengthening awareness of the importance of tolerance in everyday life.
