Mengenal sepintas Islam Nusantara tinjauan pengenalan dan penerapan
Abstract
This article discusses the history of the emergence of Islam in the Nusantara region through trade,
marriage, education, and culture. Islam in Nusantara was influenced by traders from Gujarat, Arabia,
Persia, and China. Trade routes played a significant role in the spread of Islam in Nusantara, while marriage
routes formed Muslim families. Educational routes were used by scholars to disseminate Islamic values,
while cultural and artistic routes were utilized as means of exchange and diplomacy. The concept of Islam
Nusantara is an innovation to realize a tolerant attitude and support for the culture in Nusantara. Islam
Nusantara is an implementation of Islamic teachings in accordance with the development of the times
and conditions in Nusantara. There are pros and cons to Islam Nusantara, where proponents argue that
Islam Nusantara has its own unique characteristics not found anywhere else, while opponents argue that
Islam is one and should not be altered. Islam Nusantara is expected to provide peaceful solutions to
conflicts and tensions, as well as improve the economy of the community. Scholars of the past, such as
the wali songo, conveyed Islamic teachings by using the culture and customs of the people of the past, to
facilitate acceptance by the local community. Islam Nusantara is the knowledge, application, and
implementation of the combination of religion and culture that developed in Southeast Asia, especially in
Nusantara. Islam Nusantara emphasizes local characteristics and local culture, as well as respects and
supports local wisdom. The methodology of Islam Nusantara is an approach developed by Nusantara
scholars in understanding and applying Islamic values contained within different cultures and traditions
in Southeast Asia. The method of Islam Nusantara focuses on ways to adapt Islam in the context of diverse
community cultures, as well as evaluating humanitarian values with relevant cultures. This method also
includes maslahah mursalah, istihsan, and urf as a basis in the aspect of ijtihad tathbiqi (application of
law). Islam Nusantara accommodates local culture in accordance with the principles of fiqh that say
"custom can be a source of law." Islam Nusantara also shows that Islamic teachings and urf are not
contradictory, but rather complement each other.
