Pengelolaan limbah home industry keripik pisang menjadi bioetanol
Abstract
The selling price of bananas will be lower if sold directly, because bananas can be used as an ingredient to create a more profitable product, namely processed banana chips. However, as banana production increases, peel waste also increases. As a result, banana peel waste accumulates and is scattered around, causing environmental pollution if it is not processed properly. The main components of banana peels are water and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates can be converted into sugar (glucose). Glucose is then obtained through acid hydrolysis and fermentation or by adding yeast and fermenting it to produce bioethanol. The aim of this research is to determine the process of producing banana chips and producing bioethanol from banana peel waste using fermentation time and adding yeast. This research shows that the longer the fermentation takes, the more ethanol is produced up to a certain point, and the more yeast is added, the less ethanol is produced.
