Abstract

This study illustrates the importance of understanding the rights and obligations of citizens in the context of the Indonesian constitution, particularly the 1945 Constitution. Basic rights such as freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and the right to decent work are described alongside civic obligations such as paying taxes and participating in national defense. However, there are challenges in implementation that lead to an imbalance between rights and obligations, which can result in rights violations or denial of obligations. Factors such as selfishness, low civic awareness, and abuse of power contribute to these violations. This study highlights the need for awareness and active participation in fulfilling obligations and supports strict law enforcement to achieve a fair balance of rights and obligations in society.
