Fonologi dan morfologi

Language is the primary means of human communication that functions to convey ideas and information. In linguistics, language is studied through two approaches: the internal study, which examines the structure of language, and the external study, which observes the relationship of language with external factors. This article focuses on two main branches of internal study, namely phonology and morphology. This research aims to explain the definition and scope of phonology, describe the role of morphology in word formation, and analyze the relationship between the two within language structure. The method used is a literature study by examining various relevant theoretical linguistic sources. The study results show that phonology plays a role in organizing the sound system of a language that differentiates meaning, while morphology examines the internal structure of words and their formation processes. The analysis also found that phonological phenomena often affect morphemic forms, so these two fields are closely related and complementary to each other. In conclusion, an integrative understanding of phonology and morphology is necessary to obtain a comprehensive picture of language structure in linguistic studies.
