Mizan sebagai arsitektur keadilan dalam kosmologi islam
Suatu kajian Teologis, Kosmologis dan Etis
Abstract
The concept of mizan in Islam represents the principle of justice and balance, which is the basis of order in the universe and human life. Mizan is not only understood as a physical scale, but also as a metaphysical principle that affirms the order of creation, divine justice, and moral balance in human actions. The Qur'an describes mizan as a universal law that governs the heavens, the earth, and all social relationships, while also functioning as an eschatological tool on the Day of Judgment. Various schools of Islamic theology Ash'ariyah, Mu'tazilah, and Maturidiyah present different interpretations of the nature of mizan, ranging from literal to symbolic understandings, while the Sufi tradition interprets mizan as the inner balance of human beings. From an Islamic cosmological perspective, mizan becomes a principle of cosmic harmony reflected in the order of nature and the order of social ethics. A comprehensive understanding of mizan affirms that justice is a universal law that must be upheld; its violation causes ecological damage, social injustice, and spiritual decline. Therefore, mizan offers a relevant value framework for addressing the moral and ecological challenges of the modern world.
