Wafā' bil-'ahd dan siddīq: kajian tematik konsistensi moral sebagai basis integritas mukmin dalam perspektif al-qur'an
Abstract
The contemporary era is marked by a deep integrity crisis, characterized by the phenomenon of behavioral inconsistency—or "saying what you do not do" (Mā Lā Taf'alūn), which specifically threatens the moral foundation of Generation Z. This phenomenon, rooted in cognitive dissonance and the failure of character education, necessitates a robust theological framework. This research aims to fill that gap by dissecting Moral Consistency (Wafā' bil-'Ahd and Siddīq) as the sole essence of a believer’s integrity in the Qur'an, rather than merely examining a list of general virtues. The methodology employed is qualitative with a Thematic Exegesis (Mawḍū'ī) approach. The findings show that a believer's integrity is established upon the pillars of Amanah (universal trust and responsibility) and Al-Adl (consistent justice) as commanded in QS. An-Nisa' (4): 58. This pillar is actualized through Moral Consistency, which includes: (1) Wafā' bil-'Ahd (Fulfilling the Covenant, QS. Al-Ma'idah (5): 1), which demands adherence to all covenants, both with God and with humanity; and (2) Siddīq (True Honesty, QS. At-Taubah (9): 119), which is defined as the absolute alignment between the inner and outer self (istawāt ẓawāhiruhum wa bawāṭinuhum). Failure to realize Moral Consistency directly dismantles integrity and is categorized as Mā Lā Taf'alūn, which according to QS. Ash-Shaff (61): 2-3 incurs the greatest displeasure in the sight of God. Thus, Moral Consistency is a prerequisite for the continuity of faith and the credibility of a believer.
