Peran matematikawan muslim klasik dalam integrasi dan peradaban islam
Abstract
Mathematics plays an important role in everyday life, especially in the development of science and human civilization. In Islamic tradition, mathematics is viewed not only as an exact science, but also as a means of understanding the orderliness of Allah SWT's creation. During the golden age of Islam, classical Muslim mathematicians made significant contributions to the development of modern science while integrating it with Islamic values. This study aims to examine their role in the advancement of mathematics and the integration of knowledge in Islamic civilization. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach with a literature study, the study examines the works of three major figures, namely Al-Khawarizmi, Oemar Khayam, and Al-Biruni. The data sources include primary works and secondary literature such as books and scientific journals. The results show that mathematics developed rapidly from the 8th to the 13th centuries AD when Islamic civilization was at its peak. Al-Khawarizmi laid the foundations of algebra and calculation methods related to the needs of Sharia law, Oemar Khayam developed solutions to cubic equations and astronomy, while Al-Biruni introduced new methods in trigonometry and earth measurement. This research confirms that their contributions not only advanced the exact sciences, but also strengthened the integration between knowledge and Islamic values.
