Perkembangan penelitian tafsir ayat kauniyah Al-qur’an
Abstract
Ayat kauniyah are verses that invite humans to observe, reflect upon, and investigate the creation of Allah through rational and scientific approaches. The purpose of this study is to trace the historical development of tafsir kauniyah, identify its methods and characteristics, and describe its contribution to strengthening the relationship between the Qur’an and modern science. Using a qualitative method through literature analysis, this research finds that the development of tafsir ‘ilmi in Indonesia can be divided into three phases: the preliminary phase (1960s), Development Phase I (1990s–2000s), and Development Phase II (2010–present). Each phase demonstrates increasing sophistication in scientific interpretation, ranging from basic thematic explanation to the formulation of comprehensive scientific exegesis. The study also reveals the main characteristics of tafsir ‘ilmi, namely: the integration of Qur’anic texts with scientific knowledge, a focus on ayat kauniyah, the application of scientific methods, and openness to the latest scientific discoveries. The findings indicate that tafsir kauniyah plays an important role in promoting constructive dialogue between religion and science and in strengthening a contextually relevant understanding of the Qur’an within modern civilization.
