Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes in various fields of knowledge, including Islamic studies and the interpretation of the Qur'an. This journal aims to examine how AI can be integrated into the interpretation of the Qur'an from the perspective of tafsir Bil Ra'yi, a method of interpretation that relies on rational reasoning and ijtihad by expert scholars. The method applied is a literature study with a qualitative-descriptive approach to explore the connection between human intellect and digital machine technology. The findings indicate that AI plays an important role as a supporting tool (wasilah), not as a replacement for the authority of scholars, which can broaden interpretative insights through rational analysis based on data. The potential of AI includes ease of access and information gathering, in-depth analysis of Quranic verses to quickly and accurately identify patterns and themes, interactive education, as well as the preservation of ancient manuscripts through digitization. However, AI also has four main limitations: (1) Interpretation, where AI struggles to grasp complex, contextual meanings that have multiple interpretations due to the risk of bias from human data; (2) Context, since AI cannot deeply understand the social, cultural, and historical context of the revelation of the verses; (3) Ethics, which requires strict supervision by experts to maintain the authenticity and purity of the Quran's meaning; (4) Dependence, which risks weakening human critical thinking abilities if overly reliant on information from AI. In conclusion, cooperation between machine intelligence and oversight from expert Quranic scholars is essential to maintain the validity, morality, and authenticity of the Quran's meaning in the digital era.
