Character education is a crucial issue in facing challenges in the current millennial era, where the flow of information and very fast social changes often erode the noble values and morality of the nation. The millennial Islamic generation is an agent of change and future leaders really need a very strong foundation of character so that they do not easily fall into negative behaviors such as juvenile delinquency, fights, or drug abuse. This research aims to comprehensively analyze and implement Islamic character education to be effective, especially in the context of higher education that adopts the pesesantren system, with a focus on Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, Malang. The approach used is an analytical descriptive qualitative study based on a literature review of various models that have been implemented. The results of the study show that the successful implementation of Islamic character education requires internal and external strategies to form a holistic student personality, including the religious, personal, and social dimensions. In the context of higher education, the Ulul Albab-based model adopted by UIN Malang, which combines 24-hour pesantren education with lectures, has proven to be able to internalize character through spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and professional development. The integrated model in lectures, which includes the habituation of thoyyibah sentences, recitations, and discipline, is the key to success in achieving graduates with religious character, noble character, and scholarly character in the digital era. Thus, Islamic character education in Islamic higher education institutions in the millennial era must be formulated holistically and integrated, making Islamic values the basis for the formation of a complete character.
