Unity is a fundamental value in Islamic teachings that serves as the foundation for social harmony and the strength of the ummah. This principle emphasizes that differences in ethnicity, culture, language, and social status should not lead to division, but rather become a means of complementing one another for the common good. The Qur’an positions unity as a bond built upon faith, as stated in Surah Al-Hujurat verse 13 and other verses that promote solidarity, justice, and collective responsibility. Prophetic hadith reinforce this teaching by stressing the importance of love for one’s homeland, brotherhood, and the obligation to avoid division in order to ensure the safety and welfare of the community. This value is not only normative but can also be implemented in social life, particularly during times of crisis that demand cooperation and mutual support, as reflected in various historical has happened. Therefore, unity in Islam functions not only as a moral doctrine but also as a necessary social strategy for building a harmonious, just, and empowered society. Consequently, religious education, social institutions, and governmental roles are essential in cultivating tolerance, solidarity, and religious moderation so that the value of unity can be internalized and actualized in national life.
