Pemanfaatan minyak jelantah menjadi lilin aromaterapi sebagai salah satu bentuk inovasi BUMDes Desa Sumbertempur
Abstract
Used cooking oil is a household waste that has the potential to cause environmental pollution and health problems if it is not properly managed. On the other hand, used cooking oil can be reused and processed into products with economic value. This article aims to examine the utilization of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles as a form of innovation of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Sumbertempur Village, Wonosari District, Malang Regency. The activity was carried out through socialization and training programs for the community, especially housewives, using lecture-based material delivery and hands-on practice in producing aromatherapy candles. The results indicate an increase in community knowledge and awareness regarding the negative impacts of used cooking oil on health and the environment, as well as improved skills in processing waste into environmentally friendly products. The high level of enthusiasm and active participation of participants suggests that this innovation has strong potential to be developed as a village-based business through BUMDes. The utilization of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles not only contributes to reducing environmental pollution but also creates new business opportunities that support economic independence and sustainable rural development.
