Efektivitas pendidikan keislaman di ma’had Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang

Ma’had in Islamic universities plays a strategic role in fostering students’ spirituality and character through structured Islamic education. However, the effectiveness of Islamic education is often understood normatively through formal compliance with routines and regulations. This article aims to critically analyze Islamic education in Ma’had by highlighting the tension between program formality and the internalization of Islamic values among students. This study employs a reflective qualitative approach by examining experiences, perceptions, and interaction dynamics within Ma’had education practices. The analysis reveals that formal compliance with religious activities does not necessarily lead to value internalization. Instead, internalization is more likely to occur through personal relationships, mentor role modeling, and informal reflective spaces. This article emphasizes the need to shift Islamic education in Ma’had from administrative orientation toward reflective and human-centered approaches.
