Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of financing risk management strategies in an effort to minimize the level of Non-Performing Financing (NPF) in Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS). The complexity of fund distribution involving various types of contracts triggers a high risk of default, which can directly impact the decline in the quality of productive assets. Through a qualitative literature review, the analysis shows that effective risk mitigation requires synergy between proactive and reactive approaches. The preventive strategy in the pre-disbursement phase focuses on tightening customer feasibility selection through the 5C principles (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition, Collateral), integrating Sharia compliance, and continuous monitoring based on an Early Warning System (EWS). Meanwhile, in the event of a decline in collectibility, curative strategies are applied through a persuasive coaching approach, financing restructuring (rescheduling, reconditioning, restructuring), up to the execution of collateral settlement for customers who lose business prospects. The integration of these two strategies is proven to be crucial in suppressing the surge in NPF rates, which directly implies minimizing capital provisioning, controlling operational expenses, and optimizing the bank's profitability level.
