Eco print is an environmentally friendly fabric dyeing technique that utilizes plants as natural sources of patterns and colors. The use of local plants in the eco print process not only produces aesthetically valuable products but also reflects the local wisdom of communities in utilizing natural resources sustainably. Sumbersekar Village, Dau District, Malang Regency, is one of the areas that has developed eco print crafts based on locally available plant resources. This study aims to examine the local wisdom of the Sumbersekar Village community in selecting plant species for eco print techniques and to identify the cultural and ecological values embedded in this practice. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were collected from eco print practitioners and community leaders involved in the development of eco print crafts. The data were analyzed descriptively to understand the forms of local knowledge underlying the selection of plants used in eco print production. The findings reveal that the community selectively chooses plants such as teak leaves, castor leaves, and kenikir leaves because they produce clear patterns, long-lasting colors, and are readily available in the surrounding environment. In addition to aesthetic considerations, plant selection is also based on resource availability and environmental sustainability principles. The local wisdom embedded in eco print practices strengthens the community’s cultural identity while supporting environmental conservation. Therefore, eco print practices in Sumbersekar Village represent a combination of craft innovation, the utilization of local resources, and sustainable traditional knowledge.
