Abstract

This study aims to understand how student discipline and behavior are formed within a gender-segregated school system and their implications for classroom management at MAN 1 Probolinggo. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through observation and interviews. The results show that student discipline and behavior are influenced by internal factors such as learning motivation and personal character, as well as external factors such as the school environment, school culture, the role of teachers, and peer influence. The gender segregation system can help create a more conducive learning environment, but it does not fully guarantee high levels of student discipline. In practice, teachers need to apply flexible classroom management strategies, such as enforcing clear rules, using varied teaching methods, and applying personal approaches to students. The level of student discipline significantly affects the effectiveness of the learning process, where well-disciplined classes are easier to manage compared to less disciplined ones. Therefore, successful classroom management is not only determined by the school system but also by the active role of teachers and students’ awareness in maintaining discipline.
