Abstract

Risk management is a crucial aspect of banking operations, including Islamic banking, which has unique characteristics compared to conventional banks. Sharia principles such as the prohibition of riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), and maysir (gambling) require a different approach to risk management, particularly in the management of financing and investment activities. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk management in Islamic banks and to identify the types of risks faced, including financing risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, and Sharia compliance risk.The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through a literature review of various relevant sources such as academic journals, books, and financial reports of Islamic banking institutions. The findings indicate that risk management in Islamic banking does not only focus on financial aspects but also emphasizes compliance with Sharia principles. In addition, the effectiveness of risk management is strongly influenced by the quality of good corporate governance and internal control systems. In conclusion, risk management in Islamic banking plays a vital role in maintaining the stability and sustainability of banking operations. Through the implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies and strict supervision, Islamic banks are able to enhance public trust while ensuring compliance with Sharia principles.
