The growth of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia has played an increasingly important role in supporting community economic empowerment. One of the institutions contributing to this effort is Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT), which performs both social and economic functions based on Islamic principles. This study aims to analyze the role of BMT Sarana Wiraswasta Muslim (BMT SWM) in Lowokwaru, Malang, in empowering the community's economy from the perspective of fiqh muamalah. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and field observation. The findings indicate that BMT SWM implements the values of fiqh muamalah through various Islamic contracts, including mudharabah, musyarakah, and qardhul hasan, in its financing and empowerment activities. In addition to providing financial support for micro-enterprises, BMT SWM also carries out social functions through the management of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah funds. The presence of BMT SWM has contributed to improving economic independence, reducing dependence on usury-based practices, and promoting fair economic activities in accordance with Islamic values. Therefore, BMT SWM plays a strategic role in fostering sustainable community economic empowerment.
