Analisis peran pak ogah sebagai pengatur lalu lintas informal di jalan gajayana

This study aims to analyze the role of Pak Ogah as informal traffic controllers on Gajayana Street, Malang City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on traffic conditions, social roles, and the legal implementation related to the existence of Pak Ogah. The findings indicate that the presence of Pak Ogah emerged due to the high density of vehicles in educational, commercial, and residential areas, which often causes traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. Pak Ogah help motorists when making U-turns, entering or exiting alleys, and crossing roads, thereby contributing to smoother traffic flow at certain points. In addition to assisting road users, this activity also serves as a source of income for people with limited economic opportunities and access to formal employment. However, the existence of Pak Ogah also creates several problems because they do not have official authority to regulate traffic and may increase the risk of accidents and legal violations. Therefore, more comprehensive handling is needed through improved traffic supervision, better road management, and community economic empowerment to achieve optimal traffic order and safety.Downloads
