The Use of Waste and Natural Materials as Part of Efforts to Implement Green Chemistry
Keywords:
Green chemistry, biomassa waste, natural materials, adsorbent, green synthesisAbstract
The increase in industrial activities and the use of synthetic chemicals can produce waste that has the potential to pollute the environment. The implementation of Green Chemistry has become one of the efforts to reduce these negative impacts through the use of environmentally friendly and low-waste materials. This article discusses the utilization of biomass waste and natural materials in supporting the implementation of green chemistry in various chemical processes. The article was written using a literature study method by reviewing various relevant scientific sources. The discussion focuses on the utilization of kawista shell waste as raw material for charcoal briquettes, the use of natural adsorbents in the treatment of Pb heavy metal waste, and the use of L-ascorbic acid as a natural reducing agent in the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide. The utilization of biomass waste and natural materials shows good potential as an environmentally friendly alternative because it can reduce the use of hazardous chemicals, minimize waste generation, and increase the value of organic waste into more useful products. The use of natural materials in chemical processes also supports more sustainable environmental management. The utilization of waste and natural materials can be an alternative in supporting the implementation of green chemistry in various fields of chemistry.
