Peran unit pengumpul zakat (UPZ) dalam optimalisasi ziswaf di lingkungan pesantren Bahrul Maghfiroh kota Malang

Zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF) are Islamic social finance instruments that play an important role in supporting community welfare, including within the pesantren environment. Pesantren functions not only as an Islamic educational institution but also as a social institution that supports students, congregations, and surrounding communities. This study aims to examine the role of the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) in collecting ZISWAF funds, analyze the management of ZISWAF funds, and explain the optimization of ZISWAF fund utilization in supporting the activities of Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School in Malang City and its surrounding community. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and literature study, then analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that UPZ Bahrul Maghfiroh plays a role in collecting zakat, infaq, sadaqah, fidyah, and waqf funds through pesantren networks and digital media. The management is carried out through an organizational structure, beneficiary verification, documentation, and reporting. The funds are utilized for social, educational, religious, and health programs, as well as plans for productive waqf development.
