The rapid growth of digital media has made TikTok one of the applications most frequently accessed by university students in daily life. Continuous use without proper control may influence students’ mental condition, learning habits, and social activities. This paper aims to discuss the effects of excessive TikTok scrolling on students’ mental health and describe several efforts that can help reduce its negative impact. The study uses a literature review method by examining various scientific sources related to social media use and student mental health. The discussion shows that uncontrolled TikTok use may reduce learning focus, disturb sleeping patterns, increase anxiety, create emotional pressure, and encourage procrastination in academic tasks. In addition, constant exposure to online content can lead students to compare themselves with others, which may affect self-confidence and emotional stability. Even so, TikTok can still provide positive benefits when used wisely, such as entertainment, creativity, and access to information. Therefore, students need better self-control in managing social media use, balancing online and offline activities, and improving awareness about mental health and healthy digital habits. Through balanced use of technology, students can enjoy the benefits of social media without neglecting their psychological well-being and academic responsibilities.Downloads
