Abstract

Rural architectural design requires an approach that is sensitive to local environmental and social conditions. Rural areas have characteristics that differ from urban areas in terms of climate, topography, availability of materials, and community lifestyle. However, current development practices often neglect environmental factors, resulting in a decline in the quality of rural environments. This article aims to analyze environmental factors that influence rural architectural design through a literature-based and conceptual study of rural areas. The research method employed is a literature review focusing on environmental architecture and rural architecture studies. The analysis indicates that environmental factors such as climate, topography, local materials, and socio-cultural conditions significantly affect the quality of rural architectural design. Therefore, integrating environmental factors into the design process is essential to achieve sustainable and locally responsive rural architecture.
